Here we will tell the story of the beginnings of our orphanage and how we became what we are today.
Director Lian Than started the home with 15 children in 1995 with the help of the support from a Singapore friend. However the support stopped after 3 years. And since then he has been trusting God, the local welfare depts and other friends to provide for the needs of the orphanage. Occassionally when oversea friends comes to visit the orphanage, they also gave whatever they can towards the orphanage.
Currently our orphanage work take in in total 60 children; 42 in Yangon, 12 in Matupi, Chin State, 7 in Shan State, 3 in Kume, Mandalay and  with the youngest been 8 months and the eldest 22 years old. The growing needs of the home for support, food, clothings, staff allowance, educational materials and expenses for the schooling children is a constant concern of the Orphanage.

Awaiting Compassion

Myanmar(Burma) is not only a landlocked's society but is also suffering from the lack of professional and international aid in the area of children's healthcare, preventive medicine and social projects. This situation and other domestic happenings listed below gave rise to the many problems of uncared for children and orphans. The situation is worsened when developed imposed trade sanctions against Myanmar causing a great loss of jobs and the crippling of economy. To survive, many have to find harsh conditions work. Some parents died while fighting the war at the borders. Others died of illness and diseases while working Malaria infested areas, especially those digging for jade and precious stones. Yet others died of HIV and other STD and illnesses. Children were also been abandoned as parents divorced and remarried, and the new spouse do not want to have the children in the new marriage. Such social plights have caused many children to be abandoned. Responding to the need, Director Lian Than is one of the few locals who is personally opening his heart and home for them.

Our orphanage is one of the 3 orphanages in Yangon that is officially registered with the local government  and has been granted approval to operate and build but still awaiting the final certification.

We invite you to become a part of the caring for Myanmar's burden today so that these children will be not be a piece of Myanmar's history but will also be a pillar of tomorrow's society.
